The Wild Hunt is the fourth full-length studio album by the "blackened" nu-metal band Watain.
This is album is a generic mess of derivative alt-rock, nu-metal and deathcore, perhaps even more so than its predecessor Lawless Darkess. But where The Wild Hunt really fails and accidentally reveals its nu-metal roots is in its simplistic verse-chorus-verse song structure, a far cry from the intricate riff mazes of bands like Phantom and early Emperor.
Watain never miss an occasion to become even more poserish and campy, as evidenced by the inclusion of a sample from the movie "Conan The Barbarian" (1982) on the track "Sleepless Evil". In fact, the song "They Rode On" might as well have been the unreleased version of a John Wayne film score piece.
The Wild Hunt has drawn the ire of "anti-racist" and jewish organisations for the track "Holocaust Dawn" which is deemed offensive as it mocks the events surrounding World War 2.
