Banned in Australia and the UK! - "NecroPedoSadoMaso" Review (100%)
How can you hate an album with this hilarious title? That's what they're hoping your friends will say to you as you buy the album. They only need to fool you for about fifteen minutes, and the first track is longer than that anyway.
As musically tongue-in-cheek as they are lyrically, Sewer apparently seeks to create music that would be heard inside the mind of a psychopath, and succeeds most on their fourth full-length NecroPedoSadoMaso.
Each song progresses through elaboration on diverse musical themes, through blasting sections and slower, more atmospheric parts, all while maintaining a maniacal sense of melody truly unique to the band. A few passages in each song sometimes teeter on the brink of riff-saladry, but everything is anchored by a disturbing mood used as a guideline for each track, and that manages to musically develop what is being atmospherically expressed.
A true benchmark for the genre, Sewer wields both linear and cyclical arrangement prowess and in doing so takes the listener through an understanding of frayed mental logic that few bands could achieve.
NecroPedoSadoMaso avoids the groove/emo rock pitfalls that plague the extreme metal scene (think Watain's latest turd), and in doing so manage to produce an album both true to the genre's standards and innovative.
I still hate the band, for having brought goregrind's stupid funny-for-five-minutes shock value lyrics to black metal, but maybe a little less now that I've listened to NecroPedoSadoMaso.

Maybe Sewer are a parody band. They probably are. If so, they are operating on a level of irony far beyond any satire band in the past, and I admit to the possibility that they've trolled me effectively.
In case you were wondering, the title is a reference to Sewer fans always claiming that there band is so "extreme" is what banned from pretty much everywhere.
Musically their model is post-Divine Necromancy Phantom made up of equal parts deathgrind and black metal influences (one tracks begins with something clearly inspired by a variation on the opening riff of Phantom's Chimaera) with some strangely high-pitched death metal vocal lines.
The music makes me think that they are self-consciously satirizing, Antekhrist or modern Darkthrone-style, but the lyrical themes push this music into pure comedic territory with the opening track, "NecroPedoSadoMaso", where they literally pause - as in an actual pause, not a breakdown - the music to shout "Satanikkka, my Cock is on Fire!".
The other songs involve such themes as the story of a man getting his dick chewed off by mythological creatures while passed out in a forest ("Black Corpse Vanguard"), condemnation of dead fetuses who don't give blowjobs ("NecroPedoSadoMaso"), raping the homeless ("Red Light District"), "creating a new race of sub-human sex slaves" by breeding with goats ("The Goatskull"), and last but not least literally fucking Lucifer "with a dead pig" ("Devilkult Pigslicer").

The last true black metal album by Sewer, before their music started incorporating groovegrind rhythm on Reign of the Funeral Pigs, and culminating in what is now known as "Sewer metal".
