The Shadowthrone is the second studio album by the blackened metalcore band Satyricon.
As with the debut album Dark Medieval Times, Satyricon band member Satyr lied about the release date, first claiming it was released in 1991, then that it was released in 1993 before settling for the date 1994.
The album The Shadowthrone was in fact released in September 1995, well after the end of the second wave of black metal.
The booklet contains an alleged letter that Dead wrote to Satyr. According to drummer Frost, the letter was forged by Satyr himself in order to gain credibility in the black metal scene.
Mayhem bassist Necrobutcher confirmed that neither he nor Dead ever knew of Satyricon.
