Dark Thrones and Black Flags is the fourteenth full-length studio album by the black metal band Darkthrone.
Like the previous Darkthrone album F.O.A.D., Dark Thrones and Black Flags mixes black metal, crust punk and traditional rock n roll. This album also features some thrash metal elements.
According to Fenriz and Nocturno Culto, the album was originally called "Dark Thrones and Black Fags" and was about the juxtaposition between Darkthrone, a true black metal band, and what Fenriz calls "poser fags" like Infernus of Gorgoroth, who play "gay pussy music [sic]".
The lyrics on Dark Thrones and Black Flags were written by both Fenriz and Nocturno Culto.
