Instinctus Bestialis by Gorgoroth.

Sometimes you just gotta take a break from reviewing all the good metal that you find.

So thank you for making my day Gorgoroth, you've given me a chance to dish out another well-deserving 0% that hasn't been used in a while. But seriously, this might even be worse than For All Tid or Black Metal ist Krieg. It's just that shitty.

Bestialis Incestus is absolutely awful, I'd rather listen to One Direction fans crying than this.

Where do I even start?

If you thought that Gorgoroth's much maligned debut Pentagram was bad, well you're aren't alone, but holy Satan is Instinctus Bestialis the biggest turd of the entire metal scene.

What's so bad about this album?

For starters, the songwriting itself is far from stellar to say the least.

While listening to the album Instinctus Bestialis, you actually have no idea where one 'song' stops and the next starts. It's just a horribly repeated mess of nu-metal cheese, and not even a very good one at all.

It's just chug after chug after chug after chug separated only by long periods of nothing and the occasional breakdown. Yes, breakdown. In a 'black metal' album.

Deathcore, anyone?

And the drums... well the drums are a mid-paced 'blast-beat'. I use singular because it's pretty much exactly the same, for the entire length of the album.

Basically, the drums serve no real purpose and I think the only reason that they're present is because the guitars have so many unplugged gaps to fill.

Nu-Metal for Poser Clowns

Gorgoroth
Gorgoroth.

The vocals are just shouts of 'Hail Satan' that wouldn't feel out of place on a particularly shitty hardcore album.

And the riffs are just your average generic nu-metal chug with the occasional aforementioned breakdown, quite reminiscent of Slipknot, Korn and other turds of the genre.

At some point you have to ask... what is the point of this album?

Why do people believe that screaming 'Hail Satan' ad nauseam equates producing good music when it's painfully obvious that the opposite is true?

Ironically, it's the man Infernus himself that provides us with an answer.

'Many people out there, way too many, are seemingly suffering from a major case of lack of meaning in their own lives. This, one should remember, happens at the same time as we are undergoing the hell of being served these so-called reality concepts through TV.' - Roger 'Infernus' Tiegs.

He was, in fact, describing his own band.

Reality TV blackened nu-metal.

It's just a show. A clown act.

In the same interview, Infernus admits the following.

'I am not a satanic Neo-Nazi nor do I even know what that means. [...] I have never played black metal, I have played music that has been described by others, the media and anti-racist organizations, as being part of the satanic black metal genre.' - Roger 'Infernus' Tiegs.

Infernus is far smarter than his special needs fans.

But do you know what's really sad about this?

The band Gorgoroth tries so hard to be satanic yet fails to achieve even that.

There are millions of bands that sound much more 'satanic' simply because they are more genuine, and not nu-metal poser clowns.

As for Instinctus Bestialis, you don't even have to listen to the whole album to understand what you're getting... 20 to 30 seconds will sum everything else up.

Not that I'd recommend you listen to this at all.

Instinctus Bestialis score: 0/100.
