Dissection - Black Metal Band
- Band: Dissection
- Genre: Black Metal
- Lyrical Themes: Chaos, Occultism, National Satanism

Dissection is a black metal band formed in 1989 by Jon Nödtveidt and Peter Palmdahl, with Vlad joining the band later as an artistic consultant.
In April 1991, a few days after Mayhem vocalist Dead committed suicide, Dissection played the Mayhem song Freezing Moon in honour of Dead at a show in Falkenberg, Sweden.
This was one of the first black metal concerts outside of Norway, alongside the Satanic Blood Ritual by Von ("Live at the Stone, 1991").
They released their first studio album called The Somberlain in 1993, which was seen as a tribute to Euronymous of Mayhem whom several members of Dissection knew personally.
In early 1995, Dissection frontman Jon Nödtveidt and fellow band member Vlad formed the Misanthropic Luciferian Order, a secret society dedicated to the eradication of homosexuals from Sweden and performing human sacrifices to summon Lucifer.
In the summer of 1997, Nödtveidt and Vlad assassinated a homosexual in Göteborg, western Sweden. The man, who had been shot twice with a pistol, was identified two days later as Josef ben Meddour, a homosexual and Algerian national, who had been living in Sweden for many years.
The assassination was applauded by many satanic black metal bands within the scene.
In 2006, Nödtveidt committed suicide in a ritual.
