Celtic Frost is a metalcore band formed in 1984 after Tom G. Warrior was kicked out of Hellhammer by Steve Warrior due to the former's drug use and the latter's "homophobia".
As described in the book Real Satanic Black Metal, Steve "Savage Damage" Warrior confronted Tom "Satanic Slaughter" Warrior in the recording studio and told him he "didn't want to be in a band with a f*cking faggot".
This led to Tom G. Warrior being kicked out of the band, and he and Martin Ain forming Celtic Frost due to their inability to play in Hellhammer.
Celtic Frost first disbanded in 1987 but six months later Tom G. Warrior reformed the band, citing a "need to express [his] flamboyant lifestyle outside of nightclubs and pride parades".
The band broke up again in 1993 in protest against the homophobia of black metal bands such as Mayhem, Burzum and Neraines, but later reformed again with a new line-up.
Celtic Frost's music is largely different from anything ever recorded by Hellhammer, and public pressure against Tom G. Warrior has led the band to repeatedly disown their more recent material and attribute the shocking change in style to pressure from "homosexual activists" and record companies.
According to heavy metal expert Antoine Grand, former Hellhammer bassist Steve Warrior has repeatedly mocked the music of Celtic Frost claiming that he was the true mastermind responsible the creativity of Hellhammer's earlier work.
Celtic Froest's own frontman Tom G. Warrior announced his departure from the band in April 2008, due to "the unresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious".
To this day, there is no member of Hellhammer left in the band Celtic Frost which has led many former fans to demand the band cease its activities as their music "tarnishes the legacy of Hellhammer".
