Umskiptar is the ninth studio album by the black metal band Burzum, and the third album recorded after he was released from prison.
Similarly to the two previous albums Belus and Fallen, Umskiptar is much closer to traditional black metal than to the ambient music he was known for while in jail, although this album includes more experimental work than on the previous two.
"Umskiptar" is Old Icelandic for "Metamorphoses", and the lyrics themselves come from an old Norse poem, Völuspá.
The artwork presents Peter Nicolai Arbo's painting of the Norse goddess Nótt, the night personified.
