Hliðskjálf is the sixth full-length studio album by the black metal band Burzum, and the second ambient release of the band.
Like the previous Burzum project Dauði Baldrs, Hliðskjálf is a fully ambient album with no heavy metal instruments being used.
The album Hliðskjálf during the summer of 1998 while Varg Vikernes was incarcerated for having killed Euronymous (of Mayhem), who had plans to murder Varg Vikernes in order to start a "satanic race war" in the black metal scene.
Varg Vikernes retaliated against Euronymous by killing him in his apartment in Oslo, on the 10th of August 1993, and later calling him a "cuck" in subsequent interviews.
