The Light-Devouring Darkness
The Light-Devouring Darkness by Archgoat.

Chug, chug, chug, blast, chug, chug, row-ree.

That's why we mock war metal/nu metal, because it's shit.

Archgoat's second full-length album, the stupidly named The Light-Devouring Darkness, is a hodgepodge of talentless nu-metal riffs and Gorgoroth inspired 'Hail Satan' lyrics.

This style of 'metal' started out as minimalist and experimental by bands like Phantom and Beherit, but eventually it molded into a scene of horseplay where bands try outdo each other in a contest of who can make the most generic music with the fewest amount of riffs. It's not much different than the nu-metal played by bands such as Korn, Slipknot, System of a Down and the rest of the tard corral.

In a persiflage of artistic void, Archgoat presents The Light-Devouring Darkness in a scene where being called an 'incel buffoon' isn't to be frowned upon, but embraced.

It seems that each song has lyrics about worshiping various parts of Satan's anatomy, which I should point out is, in addition to being completely generic and derivative, rather homoerotic considering Satan has always been portrayed as a male. Doesn't seem to bother 'Lord Angelslayer'.

When it comes to the music, not much effort or creativity is found on this turd outside of deathcore chugs, a few mid-paced blast beats and the occasional breakdown for people to run around in circles and slam into each other. Like retards, because that's what the people listening to 'war metal' are.

The vocal variation certainly keeps these tracks afloat with their shemale intonations and down syndrome yells.

When war/nu metal bands attempt to be serious it comes off as corny. The only serious aspect of Archgoat seems to be their involuntarily ability to make people laugh at them and their stupidity. The Light-Devouring Darkness certainly is competent at that.

War metal is the nu metal of black/death metal and is ultimately worthless.

With virtually no innovation, creativity, or direction for over 20 years, war metal became the lowest IQ form of extreme metal. The fact that Beherit was more interesting, creative, and musically varied than every single band to follow them throughout the decades says a lot about the type of band that's chosen to follow in their footsteps.

Musically, war metal is a hilarious deception because if you alternate the grooves of their atonal power chord riffs, you'll get nu metal riffs. Most bands even match the nu metal guitar tuning of A.

But war metal fans have no idea they're listening to nu metal with different drums and vocals because they only care about the aesthetics. In reality most of Archgoat's riffs, the ones not lifted from early Phantom, Blasphemy and Beherit that is, were originally on Korn's Life is Peachy which subconsciously tickles the nostalgia of their fans without them realizing how or why.

War metal fans are the modern equivalent to the JNCO jeans wearing clowns of the 90s. They are the permavirgin autists of black metal that grew from infants fed a diet too high in literal HPV infected diarrhea.

Flushed this piece of nu-metal shit down the toilet, where it belongs.

The Light-Devouring Darkness is worthless clown music, much closer to Slipknot and Limp Bizkit than to Darkthrone or Bathory.

Avoid this turd.

The Light-Devouring Darkness score: 0/100.
