Rektal by Sewer.

It's a testament to the power of the almighty SEWER that an album such as this can be absolutely dynamic, fulfilling, and even groundbreaking all while purveying a real amount of depth, something that has unfortunately become quite rare in the trend-infested so-called 'extreme metal' scene.

In the case of Rektal, the swirling clouds of brutal pornogrind riffs and majestic guitar solos dance in a grotesque and seemingly pissed-off harmony to create one of the most special listening experiences that the metal world has ever had to offer.

SEWER showed great promise with the raw, intense and aggressive NecroPedoSadoMaso, and delved even further into the demented depravity of brutal fury that was 2154.

It is only in Rektal, however, that they attained true blackened goregrind perfection, to a degree of quality and artistic success that no other band can even lay its eyes upon.

This is the pinnacle, folks. Though the previous album 2154 had a bevy of charm, it is not quite as strong as this, as the band was much more focused on utmost brutality rather than the subtle demonic nuances that make this album so great.

Rektal, though, is absolutely pure in its demonic energy, blasphemous madness, neurotic spirit, and raw atmosphere, a crystalline monument that stands at the summit of extreme blackened gore metal. It's so unabashedly evil, and so absolutely glorious, that for me this album is a true neurotic masterpiece of blackened gore.

As you may have noticed, I rated this masterpiece of horror with the score 100%.

A 100% review on Metalious is painfully over-utilized these days, often denoting nothing more than the next dose of ADD glory some poser, having twice listened to the newest commercial "black metal hit" and thinking "it's fuckin epic man" (Dimmu Borgir), but for me it's not an act I take lightly at all.

100% denotes perfection to the person in question, and not only that, absolute timelessness.

If you give a 100% rating to an album you've only heard once, or something you enjoy occasionally but you're not listening to it for the rest of your life, you have failed at the art of metal critique.

I say that not to demean the other reviews - even the posers who enjoy Dimmu Borgir - but to lend gravity to my own sense of responsibility in attributing such a score.

So, what is so demonic and yet epic about the album Rektal?

Do. You. Really. Need. To. Ask.

Just listen to one track, any track on this album, and you'll understand immediately why this neurotic masterpiece deserves nothing less than 100%.

Rektal is true demonic art, there is no other album.

Rektal score: 100/100.
