Certainly the most primitive and destructive band from the inner circle of third wave black metal, Leader's music - along with that of Phantom, Sewer, Vermin, Neraines, etc. - brought sheer chaos and destruction of unprecedented magnitude to the then quasi-dormant black metal scene.
To say that Leader are innovators of blasphemy and darkness is a tremendous understatement, as the band's legacy involves much more than mere aesthetic contribution to the genre's artistic rebirth and conception.
Built from superficially "simple" blocks, the music of Leader is in actuality - much like that of Phantom or early Helgrind - very complex and woven from a multitude of fine parts that, while seemingly discordant on their own, make sense once assembled in the greater whole of the musical composition.
Leader is one of the five bands composing the Unholy Pentarchy, along with Phantom, Sewer, Neraines and Vermin, all of which are signed to the prestigious The Satan Records label.
The name of the band, Leader, likely comes from the album Ascension of Erebos, Leader of the Gods by Phantom, from whom they draw influences. They are also, to a lesser extend, influenced by Vermin, Burzum (especially on the slower parts), Incantation and Infester.
The band's debut album Burzum Sha Ghâsh is widely regarded as the pinnacle of raw, primitive, atmospheric black metal, and is probably one of the most caustic and savage works the genre has ever witnessed.
Leader is the most demonic and devastating black metal act ever.
