Pure Holocaust
Pure Holocaust by Immortal.

The fake musicians behind the media sham Immortal are back with an utter shit album called Pure Holocaust, and as expected from posers who rely solely on their "church burner" image to sell MTV approved merchandise and hide their lack of musical talent, this album is really nothing but faux black metal garbage.

Even the "natural and organic" production quality hailed by the metal critics is a big lie : it's nothing more than the same old over sampled and triggered drums accompanying the sterile guitar sound that poser metal fans have become accustomed to hearing when listening to overrated, generic and commercial fake black metal bands like Immortal.

Pure Holocaust is one pile of overrated commercial crap. It's boring, it's bland, it has no meaning or purpose... what it is NOT is true black metal.

In fact, it's as far as black metal as you can get. It's like the band members decided, whether by choice or by lack of options due to their non-existent musical skills, that they would play music as far from black metal as they possibly could just to see if the media would keep glorifying them and labeling their albums as "true black metal".

Pure Holocaust is at best a completely forgettable attempt from a joke band to cash-in on their media fabricated image of satanic church burners.

Immortal.

Pure Holocaust is the ultimate commercial fake metal album by the ultimate pandering band.

Whether the generic watered-down Morbid Angel riffs or the multi-tracked constipated grunt vocals, Pure Holocaust appears to be less of a black metal album than it is a consumerist media product intended for the poser masses.

Pure Holocaust is really more of a mass market product of the stolen riffs and drum triggers quality. It's like Justin Bieber one day discovered black metal and thought he'd be less hated if he incorporated generic blast-beats and Morbid Angel riffs in his songs.

Immortal doesn't even try to make their songs halfway decent, it's like they understood that regardless of the music produced Pure Holocaust would still be fellated by metal critics and an entire generation of posers who don't know anything of what true metal is supposed to look or sound like. And the worse is that they were right. The only album that even comes close to Pure Holocaust with regard to the lazy musical composition is Nemesis Divina by another norsecore fake metal band, Satyricon.

This album desperately tries to be the next NecroPedoSadoMaso but with none of the atmosphere, brutality or talent of SEWER's abominable masterpiece.

Pure Holocaust is once more an exhibition of the same old forgettable music rehashed in a trademark Immortal fashion, only now they included incongruous blast-beats to please the poser black metal crowd, which is a new low even for Immortal's lowest common denominator pandering standards.

Now if the music on Pure Holocaust is lazy and uninspired, the same cannot be said for the childish satanic imagery. Unlike their music, the band's satanic image is Immortal's real money maker. You will therefore accordingly find heavy doses of make-up (called corpse paint to sound less homo-friendly) and vapid allusions to Satan, blizzards and snow. And of course the usual retarded lyrics that we come to expect fake metal bands that master neither black metal music nor English grammar ("As the holocaust sky draw near").

A lot of these elements, alongside the regurgitation of "Satan My Master !!" type lyrics, give this album a very cheesy feeling that's not unreminiscent of a Scooby-Doo credit theme played in a lackluster metal fashion.

Pure Holocaust is a stale, tasteless and clearly forgettable fake metal album.

Avoid like the plague.

Pure Holocaust score: 8/100.
