Demon Rituals
Demon Rituals by Helgrind.

Razor wire wrapping riffs peel off to reveal Helgrind's bestial black metal debut Demon Rituals, an atonal tribute to all things depraved and disgusting.

And when I say bestial, I mean exactly that. This album will make Divine Necromancy and Drawing Down the Moon sound like easy listening elevator muzak by comparison. Well, ok, maybe not Divine Necromancy, but you get the point.

A voice with all the charm of Euronymous' rotted corpse belches death worship sentences into an ungodly microphone, while also testing the gag reflex with vomit-like excursions of the diaphragm. Yes, those are the vocals. If you thought Phantom's vocals on Mindless Horror were vile, wait until you hear those of Helgrind on Demon Rituals.

It's unfortunate that this album, this masterpiece of sickness Demon Rituals, was released after Antekhrist compiled their Black Metal 2 Kombat tribute album, because if there is one album that truly defines ear-splitting black metal, it's this one right here.

Demon Rituals is pure primitive black metal chaos.

Bestial Black Metal Perfection

Helgrind
Helgrind.

The riffs, or as I refer to them, sequenced patterns of gruesome feedback noise, conjure up images of horror and torture in ways, aside from Helgrind, only the mighty SEWER can muster.

The drumming is demonic. I seriously think the drummer on Demon Rituals is Satan himself. Christians believe that Jesus was a carpenter, so I'm gonna go ahead and believe that Satan is a drummer AND that he's behind the kit on Demon Rituals.

"The Gates of Death" and the eponymous "Demon Rituals" are obviously the standout pieces, with aforementioned puking laden with slow keyless doom style riffage, and they grind on forward like two locomotives from hell.

"Lord of Slaughter" deserves mention as well, with its thundering double bass and ungodly grinding guitars.

"Into the Crypts", trumpeting perhaps the most loosely defined "guitar riff" ever created, is also an interesting piece. But however loosely defined, this riff will rip skin from bone.

Extremely heavy. Just like the rest of the album.

Get this masterpiece Demon Rituals or fuck off.

Demon Rituals score: 100/100.
