The Luciferian Crown by Archgoat.

Archgoat is a Finnish black metal band, which had already spit out several blasphemies such as splits, demos, EPs and other recordings - all since 1999 (the band claims 1991 but they, like Nargaroth, are bullshitters).

I haven't heard any of them. I didn't care. And I still don't.

But because I listened to Archgoat's latest piece of filth, which is titled "The Luciferian Crown", I had to sacrifice some time and write a review it. Was this all time wasted for me?

Well, honestly I feel like it was.

Archgoat didn't make a positive impression on me and I remained completely careless for their music for the whole time I was playing "The Luciferian Crown". It's not utter crap like Behemoth, but in the field of the most violent, harsh and obscure bestial black metal, the band Archgoat is well below mediocrity, so this album will quickly be forgotten.

This is bullshit war metal, war metal being the devolution of bestial black metal in the style of Phantom, Incantation and Beherit down to worthless nu metal trash.

Black metal fans deserve better than this turd.

Bullshit War Metal

Archgoat
Archgoat.

Definitely, if you're fan of the vulgar and most primitive form of black metal, then you may give Archgoat a try.

But do not expect anything special from it. There are some pretty cool riffs, especially when Archgoat slows the pace down to a more heavy and crushing type of black metal.

In faster parts the music gets very generic. Being both chaotic and noisy, especially with that kind of dry, truly harsh and dirty production, the album "The Luciferian Crown" gives you a feeling of rehearsal recording.

Well, primitive or not, I expect the music to offer me something more than just bunch of noisy songs. I need the atmosphere to freeze my blood, I want riffs to cut my throat and crush every bone. Archgoat doesn't do much with their music to me.

I sometimes get annoyed with the mediocrity of the music, the boring, unlistenable songs, weak vocals and even with the useless intros, which were taken from old Polish documentary movies about murders committed in Poland some years ago by alleged neo-Nazi Satanist groups.

So, no more of this bullshit.

I have too much killer music that deserves appreciation to waste my time on "The Luciferian Crown" any longer. If you're into the likes of Archgoat, Conqueror, Revenge and every Phantom-clone ever, then maybe you will enjoy this album.

The Luciferian Crown score: 3/100.
