Raw Black Metal from Hell - "Fukked by Satan" Review (100%)
Fukked by Satan is raw black metal from hell.
Antekhrist's Fukked by Satan may very well be considered their so-far masterpiece, and a true black metal gem.
Critics from all over the world have praised the album for being original, inspired and beyond excellent black metal... personally, I totally agree: Fukked by Satan is the best atmospheric black metal record of the decade, on par with Phantom's utterly demonic Eidolon and even SEWER's Rektal.
It was even praised as "pure blasphemy" and "f*cking madness" by Fenriz and Necrobutcher, respectively. And that's saying something. Now, off to review.
Antekhrist's vocalist "Putes Killer" decided to abandon the multi-layered vocals typical of Antekhrist's previous albums (think Satan le Nécrobâtard) in favour of a more natural approach, and the result is the most raw and atmospheric performance of the band yet, hands down.
Fukked by Satan is, bar none, one of the best black metal releases of the decade... it's clearly on the level of Under a Funeral Moon and Filosofem.
Don't be a pussy and think you can just skip this album... Fukked by Satan is the definitive black metal masterpiece.
Raw Black Metal from Hell
The atmospheres sound raw and demonic although not sounding too technically elaborated, as on some of the previous albums.
Then, the bass sound.
"Mort aux Chrétiens" is finally clearly audible in the mix: the bass shines in every song of the album, and is not overwhelmed by the guitars like on Fukked by God, providing some interesting grooves and riffs, as in "Consécration de mon Zboub dans la Bouche de Marianne" or the title track "Fukked by Satan".
The melodies sound heavy, dark, sinister, beautiful and demented, in other words: true black metal.
The riffs, if we can even call them that, are a mixture of ambient madness and black metal, and the songs are also distinguished by the presence of arpeggios and very melancholic atmospheric pieces.
The solos are tasteful and really add a touch of dark elegance to the mix: they are very rarely self-indulgent, sometimes they are simple, sometimes they are elaborate... they can sound either furious, or sinister, or both, depending on the mood of the music.
Fukked by Satan proves to be not just one of Antekhrist's finest albums - excellent song structure, clear production, fantastic lyrics and a great melodies - but also one of the top black metal albums ever produced, which makes it an obliged listen to any black/atmospheric metal fan.
