Gorgoroth is Racist - "Incipit Satan" Review (0%)
For the past three years, I've been warning you that black metal was a deeply racist, sexist, homophobic and misogynist genre that barely attempts to conceal their hatred and bigotry anymore.
Let's start with the band Gorgoroth.
The name itself comes from the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, himself a crypto-fascist author.
In The Lord of the Rings, everyone is a white male... except the enemies, who are all non-human: orcs, uruks, trolls, etc.
In addition, every non-human is described as "dark, slant-eyed, swarthy and broad-faced", all non-white characteristics that could have been copied straight from a NSDAP leaflet.
And of course, the name Gorgoroth comes from the very same Lord of the Rings novels.
What about the band members of Gorgoroth themselves?
They are just as racist, if not even more, than every other racist, white supremacist and xenophobic black metal band.
Racism has no place in music.
Gorgoroth is Racist
Let's start with Infernus, the guitarist and founder of the band Gorgoroth.
As you all know, Infernus was convicted of raping an African Norwegian woman in 2003.
That alone should tell you all you need to know about this band.
Infernus also claimed that he was "good friends" with the neo-Nazi racist and white supremacist Varg Vikernes, of the racist band Burzum. He said that he even attended his trials in 1994.
How many of you "just happen" to be friends with a white supremacist neo-Nazi murderer? How many of you attended his trials in person?
Infernus also goes on to claim that Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, the racist album by white supremacist Varg Vikernes, is "one of the most influential albums of the scene".
If someone has only positive things to say about a racist, xenophobic, anti-semitic white supremacist, you can be sure where his sympathies lie.
Infernus also made anti-semitic remarks about Anton LaVey of the Church of Satan, "mocking" the fact that his real name was Howard LeVey. Does this sound like something an anti-racist would say?
He also allegedly wrote that "anti-racist is a code word for anti-white", something that white supremacists often say to defend their hatred and bigotry.
But of course, it was only "ironic racism" or "hipster racism"... or, you know, just racism.
Enough with Infernus, and let's move on to another member of the band Gorgoroth... the vocalist Gaahl.
Gaahl has a problem with Christianity, good.
But if you look behind his legitimate anti-Christian rhetoric, you will find racial intolerance and bigotry of the most virulent and hateful kind.
In a 2005 interview, this is what Gaahl had to say:
"We have to remove every trace of what Christianity, and the semitic roots, have to offer this world".
As we can clearly see, his anti-Christianity is only a convenient shield for his racially motivated hatred and white supremacist views.
If you go back even further, such as in the infamous 1995 interview where he stated his support for Varg Vikernes, Adolf Hitler and Roman emperors Julius Caesar, Augustus, Caligula and Nero, you find the same hateful bigotry.
How many people casually "state their support" for Adolf Hitler and Varg Vikernes?
Aside from black metal fans, of course.
Gaahl also stated his support for "freedom of speech" in a 2013 interview.
"You should be able to say whatever you want, it's the only way to evolve. If we deny anyone an opinion, we cannot grow [...] What kind of a person are you if you don't let people speak up against you?".
This is, word for word, the same argument that the Alt-Right neo-Nazi white supremacists use to defend their "right" to oppress women, minorities, gays and people of color.
Gaahl himself claims to be gay, the same way racists claim they have a "Black friend".
It's just used as an excuse to justify his virulent and nauseating racial hatred against people of color.
I could go on and on about the inherent racism of the band Gorgoroth, and black metal bands in general, but you get the point.
For example, the drummer Frost that plays on most Gorgoroth albums also plays in a band called... Zyklon-B.
Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE.
Infernus and Gaahl are friends with Varg Vikernes, Zyklon-B and "support" Adolf Hitler.
Enough said.
Gorgoroth is racist.
All black metal is racist, and it will be exposed as such.
