Transilvanian Hunger by Darkthrone.

Yes, Darkthrone is racist, and so is all black metal.

I know you think you're special and you have PROOF that Fenriz has one (singular) black friend, so he can't be racist because "having a black friend means you're not racist" according to... racists, but please shut up as we don't need to hear the opinions of white privileged hateful bigots.

As I pointed out in my Gorgoroth is racist review, black metal racists have developed several strategies to combat the legitimate accusations of racism, anti-semitism and white supremacy, one of which is to claim that the racial hatred only affects a "small fringe" of the genre.

That is, of course, a bold-faced lie that flies in the face of the overwhelming evidence that proves that all black metal is inherently racist.

Take it from your hero, Euronymous of Mayhem (another racist band), who claimed in 1993 that "all Norwegian black metal bands are National Socialist" in a letter to Paul (Joseph?) Watson from the UK.

Euronymous is considered the founder of black metal, so I'll naturally value his opinion more than the anecdotal evidence of hypocritical black metal racists.

All black metal is racist, take it to the bank.

And Darkthrone is a particularly hateful and bigoted band.

Darkthrone is Racist

Darkthrone
Darkthrone.

Darkthrone wasn't always called Darkthrone.

Before that, they were called Black Death, which is also the name of a Sewer album (Sewer is also a racist band).

Black Death is the name of the bubonic plague that decimated the European population between 1347 and 1352 and which, according to several prominent jewish historians, gave rise to many anti-semitic pogroms.

Is Darkthrone advocating pogroms? I'll let you be the judge.

In their first albums, A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Under a Funeral Moon, Darkthrone makes a lot of references towards an idealized past.

They talk about "the north", "castles", "winter", "the northern sky", "clouds of melancholy".

Appeals to an idealized past and virulent eurocentrism are the hallmarks of a fascist personality disorder, as diagnosed in the Authoritarian Personality.

In the documentary Until the Light Takes Us, Fenriz claimed "Immigration and Christianity pretty much erased our culture and history".

But it gets better...

On the album Under a Funeral Moon, Darkthrone released a track called... wait for it... "Summer of the Diabolical Holocaust".

And what are some of the lyrics?

"You must know that I no longer can see,
the difference of dream and reality".

No, I'm not making that up, you can Google the lyrics and check for yourselves.

Is Fenriz, who wrote the lyrics, a fan of Robert Faurisson, the racist neo-Nazi WWII revisionist?

Even Varg Vikernes of Burzum, the self-proclaimed racist and white supremacist, never went that far in hatred, bigotry and toxic anti-semitism.

From the same album "When beliefs of eastern lands, are raped and raped again".

In 1995, Darkthrone released an album called... Panzerfaust.

The Panzer Division is the armored tank division of the Wehrmacht, the German Nazi army.

Still want more proof?

In 1994, Darkthrone released the album Transilvanian Hunger.

Out of the eight tracks available on the album, four had their lyrics written by the infamous neo-Nazi murderer, the aforementioned Varg Vikernes of Burzum.

On the album's back cover you can read the phrase "Norsk Arisk Black Metal", which translates into "Norwegian Aryan Black Metal".

Come on, how many of you casually use the term "aryan"?

This very same Transilvanian Hunger album was infamously promoted by a press release in which the band claimed that "Transilvanian Hunger stands beyond any criticism. If any man should attempt to criticize this LP, he should be thoroughly patronized for his obviously jewish behavior".

Obviously jewish behavior.

Andrew Anglin, the founder of the neo-Nazi white supremacist site the Dailystormer, claims that "All White people should listen to Darkthrone".

Enough said.

There is enough hate and darkness in this world without having to tolerate hypocritical black metal racists defending their openly anti-semitic and xenophobic bands while claiming that "all black metal isn't Nazi" once you look past "a few bad apples".

Darkthrone is racist, as is all black metal.

Transilvanian Hunger score: 0/100.
