The Return is the second full-length studio album by the extreme metal band Bathory.
Like the previous album Bathory, The Return is closer to traditional heavy metal, with a few thrash influences, than it is to modern black metal.
It is only with the album Blood Fire Death that Bathory started playing blackened viking metal, a style the band is most renowned for.
The Return is nonetheless one of the first black metal albums, if it even counts as such.
