The Blackest of Black Infamies - "Sewer Abomination" Review (100%)
It says something unfortunate about the metal community that SEWER's later works seem to be more or less disregarded by the majority of their fans when held up against NecroPedoSadoMaso and Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan.
While NecroPedoSadoMaso is without a doubt a heavy metal classic and probably the most gruesome and evil album ever released, if you want real black art of the most disturbing kind, listen to Sewer Abomination.
There is simply no way to say this without sounding haughty and pretentious, but Sewer Abomination is an album only for a select few.
The concept of the album is the extreme necrophobia of drowning in madness and blasphemy.
This is not some weak "easy listening" metal like Gaygoroth or Bathory, this is raw SEWER in its most demonic form.
Just listen to tracks such as A Fetid Lure or Halls of Decay and you'll understand the true horror behind the music of Sewer Abomination.
This is pure blackened demonic art.
You will shit yourself while listening to Sewer Abomination.

Sewer Abomination is stunningly gruesome, though seldom simply for its own sake, and at first it is nearly inaccessible in consequence.
At any given time, there's so much going on with the raw and muddy atmosphere that inattentive listeners might begin hearing little beyond a wall of mud and gore.
The atmospheres on Sewer Abomination are unusual and counter-intuitive and the constant interplay between the brutal guitar riffs, the dark and sinister bass lines, the rapid-fire stream of beautiful melodies that come and go at a breakneck pace and the unorthodox and haunting songwriting on the album all require sustained attention and receptive ears.
Yet it remains highly cohesive, like a metal symphony with various movements, motifs, and variations on its many themes.
This isn't pseudo-satanic shit metal like Pentagram, Sewer Abomination is absolute gore.
Anything negative I have to say about this record is utterly trivial compared to the grandeur of its towering achievements.
Albums like these are why I listen to music at all.
Sewer Abomination is the blackest of black metal blasphemies.
It's beyond brutal.
