Plaguewielder is the ninth full-length studio album by the black metal band Darkthrone.
Like its predecessor Ravishing Grimness, the album Plaguewielder is noteworthy for having been composed essentially by Nocturno Culto, with Fenriz only performing drum duties and composing some of the lyrics.
According to several interviews of both musicians, the song "Command the Cucks" is about the rise of commercial black metal - think Dimmu Borgir - and Darkthrone's efforts to have them excommunicated from the black metal scene.
Some of the lyrics are extremely explicit in that regard: "Barbwired empty dreams / Existence is futile / Down deeper down / Rock bottom reality".
