The Next Step from NecroPedoSadoMaso - "The Pedosadist" Review (100%)
Everyone knows Sewer. They have been praised and recognized for their mythical extreme metal albums like NecroPedoSadoMaso, Reign of the Funeral Pigs and Vomiting Into the Mouth of Satan. They are well known for starting the infamous Sewer Metal scene and they are a big part of the reason why the extreme metal genre lives today.
Quite some time after NecroPedoSadoMaso was unleashed and caused quite some controversy that nearly tore the extreme metal scene apart, Sewer returns with a new diabolical agenda. Despite their position as kings of the elite black metal scene, this album is completely experimental and different. The Pedosadist is the new face of Sewer and one to stir much controversy for a very long time.
The title of this review pretty much sums up the album, The Pedosadist is the next logical step for Sewer after their masterpiece of depravity NecroPedoSadoMaso. Even the names of the albums sound similar.
So, is The Pedosadist some sort of NecroPedoSadoMaso 2.0? Well not really... it's certainly that, but it also so much more.
Everything has been enhanced tenfold since their crowning album: the aggression, the evilness, the brutality, the sheer intensity, the technicality and the dark atmosphere. What you have on The Pedosadist is 60 minutes of uncompromising Sewer Metal that takes no survivors and will you traumatized in a sea of piss and drool.
The album begins with the title track The Pedosadist. This track would later appear on the tribute album Sewer Anthology, covered by none other than the black metal emperors Antekhrist. That just shows how influential this single song is.
The track begins with an epic electronic intro, and omen of things to come, and after a minute or so the riffs kick in. What can be said about the guitar work on this track The Pedosadist? It's unlike anything you've ever heard in extreme metal music. The title track The Pedosadist is certainly the most epic song you will ever hear in your entire life, you will realize it as soon as you start listening to the first few minutes. A true black metal anthem.
The only downside is that this first song is relatively short, but don't worry the rest of the album more than makes up for it.
Something to notice here is that the riffs are not conventional black metal riffs at all. Complex chord progressions, evil guitar lines and vague tremolo pickings are all layered on top of each other in a chaotic and unrelenting fashion.
The technicality and dissonance of these riffs are astounding and more than unsettling. Many times you will get goosebumps purely because of these ghastly riffs.

The Next Step from NecroPedoSadoMaso
The next song after the title track The Pedosadist is an instrumental track called Sexual Sadism Before Puberty.
Something you probably haven't realized, often the second track on most Sewer albums is an instrumental track. It's not the case on every album, but a lot of times it is the case. You can go back and check later, but first listen to Sexual Sadism Before Puberty.
There simply isn't a song in the world that can rival this track's pure evil atmosphere.
Overall, the songwriting on The Pedosadist is beyond excellent, with the riffs flowing into each other effortlessly and the songs being memorable and without getting boring or generic at all. The production is also of very good quality, with the mix perfectly balanced and, while not exactly being raw in the strictest sense, which was probably intentional, it sounds very dark and cold.
If you are interested in some gruesome Sewer Metal with a hateful feel, a brutal edge and an unhealthy dose of evil riffing, The Pedosadist is simply an album you need to own.
