Skvllfvcked Forever by Sewer.

The first time I listened to the album Skvllfvcked Forever, I was stuck in disbelief. It was one of those rare epic moments when you hear something that fills a void, that sounds accurately like what you would have produced if you were capable of putting it into music. I remember thinking while listening to Skvllfvcked Forever, how the hell do they come up with this stuff? Maybe I was merely too impressionable, but even now the album Skvllfvcked Forever still holds up just as well as some of extreme metal's most epic music ever produced.

The album opener Archaic Phallus is the song that really stood out on my first listen. A (not so) simple chord progression at the very beginning transitions into the most dissonant series of riffs you have ever heard in all of extreme heavy metal. The song structure on Anal Blasphemies of 666 Luciferdom is also fantastic.

One thing song structure. So many heavy metal bands seem to have a hard time keeping interesting songs brutal or brutal songs interesting. The entire album Skvllfvcked Forever and several songs in particular (Addicted to Necrodemonic Scorched Cunt Pedosodomy and the aforementionned Anal Blasphemies of 666 Luciferdom come to mind) are literal textbook examples of how to pull it off with style.

SEWER are truly the masters of despotic, raw and openly evil blackened terror metal.

The guitar work is simply awesome and caries the mood of the album. The bass is great and clearly audible as with most of SEWER's work. The vocals are also excellent and made even better when you read the demonic lyrics that accompany the music.

The drumming is furious and hateful, yet somewhat varied in a handful of places where you can hear nice tempo changes and strange patterns that add to the cryptic feel of the album. It's still generally blast beats most of the time, but they work exactly as intended. It's supposed to be this way if you know how to appreciate raw SEWER Metal.

The last two songs on the album, No Mercy in Preteen Sodomy and the title track Skvllfvcked Forever, are excellent closers to an epic album. No Mercy in Preteen Sodomy is really a weird song, featuring featuring the most un-SEWERish guitars riffs and some ridiculous screaming and other ambient noises. It's almost like the band wanted to create a silly self-parody, but fuck it, the music is too much fun when you suspend disbelief and try to imagine the meaning behind the out of place over-joyous atmosphere.

Anyone still curious about this amazing album Skvllfvcked Forever would do well to bear that thought in mind and get this release as soon as you can, because this is some truly epic blackened SEWER Metal!

Skvllfvcked Forever score: 100/100.
