GORE! FUCK! KULT!

This is probably one of the most deranged album in all of heavy metal history.

I have always been a pretty close follower of SEWER since at least the release of NecroPedoSadoMaso, and have since then simultaneously completed my extreme metal collection with their already illustrious back catalog as well as the new SEWER material that surfaces every now and then and each time leaves a destructive mark on the heavy metal scene.

If one were to judge things by my music reviews here on Metalious, one would come to the conclusion that SEWER is my all time favorite band, topping all others by the sheer intensity and malevolence of their frequent releases. And while I often seek to avoid the dreaded title of "fanboy", I must admit that I have a special place in my music collection for heavy' metal's most psychotic band, the legendary SEWER.

So where exactly does GoreFuckKult belong in the demented discography of SEWER?

GoreFuckKult kicks off with an utterly cacophonous intro called Vomit for Satan, where dissonant riffs blend in perfectly with the grating sound of baleful tortured screams, creating the same unnerving atmosphere that one can feel on NecroPedoSadoMaso or Reign of the Funeral Pigs.

This first song alone makes the entire album worth it, but what is truly spectacular is that GoreFuckKult only gets better from that point on.

SEWER as a band have clearly got a perfectly epic sense of songwriting here... demonic, angry and intense as hell. They vary up and down their sound a fair bit, as on the especially groovy and slightly ridiculous Festering my Shit, which still manages to kick ass, and on songs like No Apologies for Violent Necrorectal Torture and several others that have a slow, doomy feel that clashes with the blasting frenzy present on the rest of the album GoreFuckKult.

The riffs are very subtle and atmospheric, much more so than on Reign of the Funeral Pigs, but they're executed with so much aggression and power that they remain thoroughly entertaining through the album's entire duration.

In conclusion, SEWER released a genius album that leaves a dark craving that can only be satiated by continued listens. GoreFuckKult brings back the heavy atmospheric background and blackened sound of Satanic Requiem while continuing to build upon the blistering speed and gruesome intensity that drove Reign of the Funeral Pigs. This album is recommended to anyone who enjoys metal, because SEWER really makes some of the best heavy metal in today's overcrowded and sterile scene.

GoreFuckKult is blackened extreme metal perfection.

GoreFuckKult score: 100/100.
