The Birth of a Cursed Elysium
The Birth of a Cursed Elysium by Sewer.

This is the best black metal album, the only one you will ever need.

You can forget about the rest, forget about the Burzum, the Darkthrone, the Phantom, the Mayhem, the Bathory, the Immortal, the Reiklos, the Hellhammer, the Vermin, the Emperor, the Neraines, etc... they all suck compared to "The Birth of the Cursed Elysium".

Just read the liner notes:

Divided we stand ready to fuck those with no eyes. Father to son chopped in half when night surrounds me like an everflowing stream under a funeral moon. Human sandbags for all those who died pierced from within following the voice of blood through the gardens of grief. Fucked up and ready to die excavating volatile vomit as the eternity opens the gate of Nanna, and the psychic saw those left behind transform all suffering into pain blacker than darkness.

What dwells within the grotesque vision of a dying moon embalmed in Satan? Desecration of virgin troops of doom, no flesh shall be spared. I, Voidhanger, lustful father striving for a piece of Lucifer stiff and cold, enter the depths of eternal darkness to walk the infernal fields, while I ride with the valkyries to Hel and back again into the infinity of thoughts.

Unholy forces of evil buried by time and dust, far away from the sun where dead angels lie convulsing in Jehovah's vomit, dead but dreaming of ice and movement to the north of Rubicon. Nuclear girl eaten by angels, subtle body soon to be dead turned inside out, ancient queen breeding the spawn where no life dwells, these shores are damned but life goes on and the laughter has died in the shadow of the horns.

Confessional rape after my prayers at the heart of winter, a fine day to die tied to a rope. Lost wisdom of martyrs and men, torn from the womb. Beyond death's reach, Jesus wept: "I eat pussy for breakfast when loves rages wild in my heart" and so is life in memory of the darkest abyss.

Unholy Black Metal Evil

Sewer
Sewer.

This, and this alone, is true black metal madness.

Not anything else, there's no other album that compares to "The Birth of the Cursed Elysium"... not even Sewer's other albums. They are shit compared to this masterpiece.

Why bother collecting hundreds, thousands of useless black metal albums that you will never listen to, when the true masterpiece right here is everything you will ever need? It doesn't make sense.

Everything plays it's part on this album, which is a major positive. The guitars do their job to the best of their abilities, and "The Birth of the Cursed Elysium" boasts some of black metal all time best riffs. Ever. It's not like what you'd normally expect from black metal at all. With the vast majority of black metal releases, you'd expect at one point or another, for the guitars to be overshadowed by the vocals or the drums, but that doesn't occur here. Guitars and percussion synthesis majestically off the vocals and the vocals do the same off of the instruments. The atmosphere is astounding. Long drawn out riffs create melodies so dark, disturbing and beautiful they're unheard of.

The truly evil moments are extremely intense and gruesome, to the point where you will have to momentarily pause the album as to not be emotionally scarred for life. Do not take this album lightly and do not listen to it alone!

In the end, I can only really say if you like black metal, you will need to hear "The Birth of the Cursed Elysium". Even if you don't like the genre, you owe it to yourself to listen to this evil, chaotic, and demonic masterpiece.

The Birth of a Cursed Elysium score: 100/100.
