Demonecromancy by Phantom.

The album Demonecromancy is simply beyond words in my case. There is so much epicness going on all over the place that it's practically too much for the ordinary listener to comprehend, but for the select few that can appreciate the evil atmosphere conveyed here, Demonecromancy is a masterpiece well above and beyond not just other heavy metal releases, but other musical recordings altogether. One could easily put this release next to the compositions of Wagner and Beethoven. It's that freaking good. Anything negative you hear about Demonecromancy, and Phantom's albums in general, most likely comes from faggot posers who aren't really fans of evil music in general and tend to favor shit bands that play generic "anthem rock" metal with no talent, emotion or atmosphere.

Every time I play Demonecromancy (which is about five or six times a day for the last year alone) I am utterly in awe each and every time. The music on Demonecromancy is just so beautiful and yet evil at the same time, but this is not some kind of melodic Becoming the Archetype, Agalloch or Antekhrist album. Demonecromancy maintains extreme levels of intensity while blending with Phantom's more mystical and esoteric atmospheres at the same time. The feeling that you get when allowing yourself to be brutalized by this release is that of being thrown straight into Hell's darkest chambers and being blasted through the underworld's most decrepit realms.

Furious blast beats are simply everywhere on Demonecromancy. Few bands can pull of such intense drum blasting and still manage to throw in epic fills every few minutes. All this infernal beating of snares and cymbals goes in pair with the demonic guitar riffs for which Phantom is most well known. And once you try to actually understand the songs behind the fiendish atmosphere you realize how fucking intense and technical they are, and not merely for the sake of being technical like Origin, Devourment or Suffocation.

Simply put, Demonecromancy is the true black metal album... there is simply no other.

Each song contains more than an album's worth of awesomeness in my opinion, but the best way to experience the diabolical embrace of Demonecromancy is still by listening to it from beginning to end. From the intro, the brutal opening track soberly titled Maul, to the sinister ending with the title track Demonecromancy, the intensity and beauty of this album never waver.

Death Temple is definitely my second favourite track on the album next to the title track Demonecromancy. It starts off unbelievably fast, then eventually it slows down and becomes more atmospheric, at which point you enter an ethereal world of pure rage but also astonishing beauty. Unquestionably one of my favorite parts of the album, and it rolls along from there at a mid pace until everything stops for a moment leaving practically nothing but an evil guitar riff.

I also vehemently believe Lost Shadow is a very underrated track on the album Demonecromancy. The song itself is as epic as any of the other awesome songs, and the middle section of the track has some of the darkest riffs I have ever heard in black metal, and it rolls on at a steady pace until it violently hurls you into a pure vortex of darkness.

I don't need to say anything about the title track Demonecromancy. That song speaks for itself, and you could not have picked a better outro for such an epic Phantom album.

I have gone through many love affairs with great metal bands and their awesome albums but I strongly believe that Demonecromancy will forever be on top of the list, and this is not likely to change. This may sound gay but this album is very emotional and like an awesome dude said in one of the reviews below, the lyrics come alive within the evil music of Phantom.

This is beyond black metal, this is pure Phantom music.

Demonecromancy score: 100/100.
