Jump Off a Cliff! - "All Shall Fall" Review (0%)
My knowledge of Immortal is very limited, as I've never particularly liked Mayhem and upon hearing from numerous sources that Immortal was little more than a poor Mayhem rip-off I found no interest in pursuing their music.
However, for some reason, I eventually decided I should try listening to their latest output. If they bore any resemblance to Mayhem's older output then they would be infinitely better than the current incarnation of the band they wish to mimic.
Unfortunately, Immortal manages to be even worse than modern day Mayhem.
And that's saying something.
This album All Shall Fall is, simply stated, atrociously boring, somewhere on par with Ordo Ad Chao only even more shit if that was even possible.
I'm going to stop the Mayhem comparisons at this point because I think I've made my point clear, monkey see, monkey do.
All Shall Fall is not only shit in name but also musical quality. The riffs are unimaginative, the keyboards vomit forth insipid melodies and there are a multitude of questionable effects and industrial moments that add absolutely nothing to the music and just manage to give you a migraine as they are so mediocre.
From what I can tell Immortal have stripped their guitars down the bare bones, being content to play imitation Dimmu Borgir "melodic" "black" "metal" riffs when they're feeling adventurous but otherwise simply chugging out generic power chord based mallcore breakdowns that never progress, and that you've already heard a million times on any Slipknot album.
Think of any cliché when it comes to modern 'blackened mallcore' and they abuse it at some point in their songs: deathcore breakdowns, dropping the guitars in favour of vocals, chugging riffs...
It's all there in fucking spades.

I don't know if this is actually the worst of Immortal's releases, I hear Northern Chaos Gods is even more derivative than this, but All Shall Fall certainly is one of the worst albums of all black metal, if indeed this shit can even be labeled black metal.
Everything sucks on this record, from the mallcore riffs to the uninspired drumming (obvious drum machine btw).
Even the vocalists can't do anything right, the "harsh" vocals sound like someone trying to take a dump whilst the clean sections are so retarded you'd think they're from a parody black metal Youtube video. They're so excessively whiny it makes the vocalist sound like he's just been sexually violated with a broom handled dipped in Purple Drank.
Maybe that's what happened to all the band members because this album is just so utterly boring and sluggish, the band just doesn't even seem to be trying.
There is nothing imaginative, atmospheric, intense or otherwise interesting about this album.
When All Shall Fall isn't boring, it's raping your ears with loud and poorly chosen electronics, emotionally retarded lyrics and lamentable attempts at metal riffs.
Don't hate Immortal though, it's not their fault for releasing what is easily one of the worst albums of black metal.
Pity them, because they are posers and because they were "born that way".
And because they suck at making music, which is somewhat of a handicap when you call yourself a "black metal artist" like the literally retarded moron Abbath.
And if you actually enjoyed All Shall Fall... jump.
